Rhythm and Muse
A poetry and music space for Teddington

Welcome

Rhythm & Muse is a lively poetry and music event held on the last Thursday of the month at The Lion, Teddington. Launched in July 2007 by local poet Alison Hill and co-hosted by Nick Poole, Rhythm & Muse offers:

  • a friendly, welcoming venue and an appreciative audience
  • a dynamic mix of voices – surprising and inspiring
  • an opportunity to hear new and established poets and performers
  • a chance to share your own poetry and music at the open mic

Just a short walk from Hampton Wick mainline station, The Lion has a large beer garden and a separate function room with a history of rhythm & blues music. What better place to find poetry and music!

Summer Sunday SpecialRhythm & Muse also tours on a regular basis – we’ve put on events at the cornerHOUSE in Surbiton, the Mary Wallace Theatre in Twickenham and the Rose Studio Theatre and Ram Jam Club in Kingston.

Next stop – the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington on Sunday 18 July from 2-3pm with LiTTLe MACHiNe and a range of local poets.

Email Alison if you would like to be considered as a guest poet or musician at forthcoming events, or would like to sign up for the regular open mic (five minute slots).

Newcomers  welcome.

See our poets and musicians galleries for more details of who has appeared at Rhythm & Muse over the past three years.
