Alison Hill has been published in a range of poetry magazines including Orbis, Fire, Ripple, Pulsar, Envoi and Obsessed with Pipework. Recent anthologies include This Island City (Spinnaker Press, 2010), And The Story Isn’t Over (poetry pRO, 2009) and poetry tREnD (LIT Verlag, Berlin 2010). Her work has been translated into German and Romanian via poetry pf projects and poems are forthcoming in the International Notebook of Poetry and 14 Magazine.
Alison’s pamphlet collection, Peppercorn Rent, was published by Flarestack in 2008 and she has given readings at the Troubadour, Tongues & Grooves, Lumen and Rhythm & Muse.
Alison set up Rhythm & Muse at The Lion in Teddington in 2007 and moved the monthly event to the Ram Jam Club in Kingston in January 2011. R&M has also staged events at the Rose Theatre, the cornerHOUSE, the Landmark Arts Centre and the Mary Wallace Theatre.
R&M works in partnership with Kingston University and regularly showcases emerging student poets.
Alison is Kingston Libraries’ first Poet in Residence and will be running a series of workshops and events from June 2011–12. There will be three children’s summer workshops to tie in with the national reading challenge, Circus Stars, and events to coincide with National Poetry Day and the Think in Kingston Festival.
